New Tools!

I feel like by just writing that, any guys (and tool-loving girls, of course) in a 50 mile radius just went “Ah, yeah!” There’s just something about picking up some new tools, a feeling I don’t think anyone can really explain. I do know that “tool shopping” as a compulsion seems to start right about the time that one purchases their first home. After that, browsing the tool section of Sears (yes, I’m old now) goes from “snooze” to “oooo, what’s new and on sale?”

Anyway, my shiny new baubles. As promised, I picked up a new sandblaster, gloves, and respirator. Oh, and some new torx bits.

As for media to use, after some research I decided to go ahead and try glass beads. They seem like a good overall “middle ground” that I can use for multiple projects. not only that, but I could get them at Harbor Freight rather than going to a specialty store. Convenience trumps correctness yet again.

Due to work and our upcoming trip, I wasn’t able to get very far in assembly of said media blaster. I did get the major components together, which was quite an exercise in order of operations. Only twice did I have to take a connection back apart because the next one in the instructions wasn’t able to screw on because it was already set in place. My mistake was probably giving too much credit to instructions from a Harbor Freight product.
